Medical Students as Educators - Why it Matters (10 Jul 2024)

In this episode, Edward Foo discusses the relevance and benefits of teaching as a medical student with Ian Lee from the University of Edinburgh.


Mr Ian Lee is a Lecturer in Medical Education and Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. He works mainly on the University of Edinburgh's Clinical Educator Programme - a staff development, CPD programme supporting clinical educators in their development as a teacher. Ian volunteers on the steering group and as a student mentor for the Edinburgh Medical School's 'Undergraduate Certificate in Medical Education' (UGCME). Ian also had a role in designing some of the original lessons that formed the first iteration of the University of Edinburgh's' Doctor as an Educator' (DaaE) module and continues to support that module where possible.

Since recording, Dr Edward Foo has graduated from Edinburgh Medical School, and is set to undertake a Specialised Foundation Programme training post in London. He is an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, with primary areas of interest spanning internal medicine, medical education and clinical communication.
